Zimbabwe is constructing a multi-purpose stadium in Victoria Falls to host matches for the 2027 ICC Cricket World Cup. The government has allocated 10 hectares of land in the Masuwe Special Economic Zone for Tourism for the project.
The new 10,000-seat venue will stage games during the 2026 ICC Under-19 Men’s Cricket World Cup jointly hosted by Zimbabwe and Namibia. It will then be a venue for the 2027 senior Cricket World Cup held across South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia.
Zimbabwe’s President Emerson Mnangagwa is expected to lay the foundation stone on 23 May, with completion scheduled for August 2025. As well as cricket, the stadium will be able to host rugby, tennis, hockey and squash.
Zimbabwe Cricket, the national governing body, announced the stadium plans following the 14th post-cabinet briefing of 2024. The new facility aims to boost Zimbabwe’s sporting infrastructure ahead of the high-profile cricket tournaments.
