Teams from eight countries to compete in Men’s IHF Trophy Zone 6 Africa

The capital of Zimbabwe, Harare, will be the venue of the Men’s IHF Trophy Zone 6 Africa, which will be staged from 6 to 11 May 2024. The youth (U18) tournament will take place at the Sunrise Sports Club, while the junior (U20) competition will be played at Chitungwiza Aquatic Complex Hall.

The eight teams – Lesotho, Mozambique, South Africa, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Malawi, Namibia and Swaziland – will participate in both competitions. The winners will qualify for the IHF Trophy Continental Phase Africa.

In the group stage, which will take place from 6 to 8 May, the teams at both competitions will be divided into two groups of four teams. At the youth event, Zimbabwe, Malawi, Lesotho and South Africa will play in Group A, while Zambia, Swaziland, Mozambique and Namibia will compete in Group B.

In the junior tournament, South Africa, Zambia, Lesotho and Namibia ended up in Group A, while Zimbabwe, Malawi, Swaziland and Mozambique play in Group B. The two best teams from each group proceed to the semi-finals, which will be held on 10 May, while the other sides will fight for the places 5-8.

The finals as well as bronze-medal matches at both age categories are scheduled for Saturday, 11 May.
