AMARI Masters, PhD, & Postdoctoral fellowships in Public Mental Health 2024/2025 for African Students

For the AMARI Masters Scholarship, The African Mental Health Research Initiative (AMARI) is offering fellowships to candidates from partner countries (Ethiopia, South Africa,  Malawi, and Zimbabwe) to complete the MPhil in Public Mental Health in 2023

Application Deadline: 15th January 2024

Eligible Countries: Ethiopia, Ghana, Malawi, South Africa, Zambia and Zimbabwe

To be taken at (country): University of Zimbabwe, University of Capetown.

About the Award: AMARI-II is being implemented with funding support of the second phase of the Developing Excellence in Leadership, Training, and Science in Africa (DELTAS Africa), an initiative of the Science for Africa Foundation (SFA) with funding support of Wellcome and the UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO).

Eligibility: Candidates
for this programme should be in possession of an Honours degree or
post-graduate diploma in Public Mental Health or a cognate discipline or an
equivalent four-year qualification.In addition, candidates should:

have experience of working in a mental health, health or development related field for at least three years;

be employed within a managerial or leadership role, or have the capacity for such a role; and

show evidence of adequate English language and writing proficiency for postgraduate academic studies.

To be considered for the fellowships, candidates must:

be a citizen or permanent resident of South Africa, Ethiopia, Malawi,or Zimbabwe

successfully gain entry to the MPhil, PhD or Postdoctoral Programs and

undertake a research project
that is aligned with the goal of AMARI.

Value of Award: The Fellowships cover all the tuition, travel and accommodation fees related to the programme.
