Uganda hosts the Global Symposium for Regulators (GSR-24).

The four-day meeting is organized by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) – the United Nations specialized agency responsible for ICTs. The ITU is the oldest organization in the UN system, having been established in 1865, long before the UN itself was born, and is Based in Geneva, Switzerland.

Besides topical discussions, GSR-24 features an exhibition by industry players from across the world. Uganda recognizes the vital role that ITU plays in shaping the global ICT agenda and is not only a member, having joined in 1963 but an active participant in the UN agency’s activities.

Being the first time that such a meeting is being held in Eastern Africa Uganda, hopes to engage with global ICT stakeholders on key issues associated with our priority areas such as consumer empowerment, cybersecurity and data protection, broadband access, and digital transformation.

Hosting the Global Symposium for Regulators is a significant milestone for Uganda as it underscores the country’s position as a leader in the ICT sector within the region, on top of attracting international visibility and business.
