Tunisia is embarking on a quest for a second continental title that has been elusive to them since their 2004 triumph.

The former champions are making their 21st appearance, with the last 16 of them being consecutive since 1994.

First assignment for them would be to get through a tricky Group E consisting of Mali, Namibia and South Africa.

Road to Cote d’Ivoire

Tunisia secured their ticket to Cote d’Ivoire as leaders of Group J with 13 points.

The Carthage Eagles attack found the net 11 times. A good performance which is reassuring in view of the tough defence that they will be facing in Cote d’Ivoire. The Tunisian defense only conceded one goal throughout the qualifiers, giving them the best defense record in the qualifiers.

Player to watch: Youssef Msakni

Youssef Msakni will be the Tunisian player to watch for the former champions. The 33-year-old dreams of leading his country to a second continental title. A feat that would allow him to definitely make history since a trophy would be the icing on the cake for the player who has enjoyed a successful club career.

Coach:  Jalal Kadri

Jalel Kadri took charge of the Tunisian team at the 2021 edition in Cameroon by a combination of circumstances after Mondher Kebaier, then head coach contracted Covid-19 just a few days before the round of 16 match final against Nigeria.

Despite losing to Burkina Faso in the quarter-finals, Kadri managed to qualify the team for the 2022 FIFA World Cup and will look to use both experiences to better lead his team in Cote d’Ivoire.
