Liquid brings Azure Stack to Tanzania

Manish Govindji, acting CEO of Liquid Intelligent Technologies Tanzania.

Liquid Intelligent Technologies has teamed up with wingu.africa, a Tanzania-based provider of carrier-neutral data centre services, to launch the second Azure hyperconverged infrastructure (HCI) stack in Tanzania.

Azure Stack HCI is a hyperconverged clustering solution that uses verified hardware to run virtualized workloads on-premises.

The company announced the move today, saying that Liquid Tanzania’s investment will create a more conducive environment for local businesses to accelerate their digital transformation journeys.

The launch of an in-country Azure Stack solution helps organisations fulfil local compliance criteria by allowing clients to run apps in an hyperscale cloud-type environment, without the need for data to leave the country.

Manish Govindji, acting CEO of Liquid Intelligent Technologies Tanzania, said: “In 2021, we were the first to bring Azure Stack to Tanzanian businesses, helping them gain access to cloud solutions that met the local data regulatory requirements and efficiently run latency-sensitive business applications.

“This is yet another milestone we achieved as we continue to work towards empowering our customers to adopt cloud and contribute to making Tanzania a digital economy.”

“Our carrier-neutral data centre complements this initiative, allowing companies to choose their preferred connectivity service provide, “said Nicholas Lodge, co-founder and chief strategist at wingu.africa.

Liquid has deployed Azure Stacks in multiple African countries, with Tanzania the most recent, following Zambia’s launch of its Azure Stack, in September.
