Uganda emerged winners of the first edition of the Africa Women’s Homeless World Cup after registering an emphatic 6-1 win against hosts Tanzania in Arusha.
Despite falling behind through an own goal,Uganda who carried the favourites tag,rallied from behind tormenting their opponents to grab the resounding win.
Kenya finished the tournament in third place after seeing off Zambia in a third place play off while Malawi was ranked fifth after a 8-7 thrilling victory against their Southern counterparts South Africa.

Zimbabwe beat Namibia 5-1 to finish 7th.
Eight nations competed in the inaugural edition of the championship.The countries that graced the event were:Kenya, Malawi, Namibia, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.
The tournament sought to celebrate unity,resilience, and demonstrate the power of sport to drive change and empower women in communities.
‘’Homeless world Cup project seeks to leverage the power and popularity of football as a conduit to engage vulnerable women by providing spaces that are safe for women to play football and support them to productive alternatives of exploitation’’ read a communique from the kenya team.
The regional tournament was used as preparation for the 19th edition of the forthcoming Homeless World Cup which scheduled September in Seoul,Korea.
