South Africa wicket-keeper batter Kyle Verreynne was adjudged the Player of the Match for his match-winning hundred in the second innings of the BAN vs SA Test. With the win in Dhaka, South Africa have made large strides in the World Test Championship (WTC) 2023-25 cycle points table.
South Africa’s win over Bangladesh came as their first victory in the Asian continent in over 10 years, with their last win being in 2014.

With this victory, South Africa also climbed to fourth place in the WTC 2023-25 points table with a points percentage (PCT) of 47.61%. Ahead of the Dhaka win, South Africa were positioned sixth on the WTC standings with two wins in six matches with the PCT of 38.89%.

How Can South Africa Reach WTC 2023-25 Final?
With South Africa still having five Tests remaining in the current WTC cycle, if they win all five of them, they’ll finish at 69.44%, securing a top-two spot (barring any penalties for slow over rates). Even four wins from five would lift them to 61.11%, giving them a strong chance for a top-two finish, depending on the outcomes of India’s, Australia’s and Sri Lanka’s matches.
Kyle Verreynne & Bowlers Power South Africa To Dominant Win
Coming to the BAN vs SA Test in Dhaka, Bangladesh won the toss and opted to bat first. Najmul Hossain Shanto-led Bangladesh had aterrible outing with the bat in their backyared as they were bundled out for just 106 runs, with Kagiso Rabada, Keshav Maharaj and Wiaan Mulder each claiming three wickets. In reply, South Africa posted 308 runs in the second innings, led by a sensational century off the bat of Kyle Verreynne.
With their backs against the wall, Bangladesh were on the brink of an innings defeat but allrounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz’s 97-run knock helped them wipe out the lead and ste a target of 106 runs for South Africa. South Africa chased the target down with ease, winning the Test by seven wickets.
