Senegal Ministry Reports Boeing 767 'Technical Incident'

A Boeing 767 chartered by Delta was forced to make an emergency stop on Saturday during takeoff from Dakar to New York, according to Senegal’s air transport ministry.

“The plane, in its take-off phase, executed an acceleration manoeuvre followed by an emergency stop due to a technical incident,” the ministry stated.

The pilot safely halted the aircraft, with no injuries reported among the 213 passengers, and the flight was postponed. The incident occurred around 11:30 am (1130 GMT).

Senegal’s national aviation security agency, the BEA, will investigate the incident, the ministry added.

This event follows a series of safety concerns involving Boeing aircraft, including a previous incident in Senegal at Dakar International Airport.

In May, a Boeing 737/300 operated by Air Senegal veered off the runway during takeoff, injuring 11 people and closing the airport for hours.
