Home team Super Eagles will be the ones under pressure when they welcome South Africa tonight in a 2026 World Cup qualifier in Uyo tonight, according to Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos.
Nigeria are now one of three teams in Group C yet to win a match in the World Cup qualifying series, with Lesotho and Zimbabwe the others.
South Africa, Rwanda and Benin have recorded a win to now be the front runners in this qualifying group.
Rwanda remain top of the standings despite a 1-0 loss to Benin in Abidjan Thursday night with four points from three matches, same points with Benin.
South Africa are now third on three points.
“Pressure is on Nigeria to win, the pressure is really on them,” maintained Broos.
“They are playing at home and when you do that, whether in a World Cup or AFCON qualifier, you do not want to drop any points.
“They cannot afford to lose points at home.”
