The Algerian team went a perfect 12-0 in the round-robin stage of the competition before downing Togo 3-0 to clinch the all-important first place on Saturday.
They will compete in Africa Group III in the 2025 BJK Cup season.
With Africa Group III also being played in Kenya last week, there was a real celebration of tennis on the continent, but it was Algeria who really stood out from the crowd.
Ahmed Ouadane’s team dropped just one set all week (in a singles match against Congo, Democratic Republic) as they rightfully emerged triumphant in Kigali.
The final standings were as follows:
1st – Algeria (promoted)
2nd – Togo
3rd – Cameroon
4th – Tanzania
5th – Rwanda
6th – Mozambique
7th – Ethiopia
8th – Congo, Democratic Republic
9th – Lesotho
10th – Angola
