Minister Ghita Mezzour Boosts Gitex Africa Morocco: Doubles Startup Participation, Fuels Digital Innovation

The exhibition is expected to facilitate more than 600 meetings between startups, investors, and companies.

Rabat – Minister Ghita Mezzour, Delegate to the Head of Government in Charge of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform, has revealed an ambitious vision for the upcoming second edition of Gitex Africa Morocco.

During a promotional tour in Casablanca for Moroccan startups, Mezzour expressed pride in doubling the number of participating Moroccan startups to 200, compared to 100 in the 2023 edition.

The Ministry has made efforts to support their involvement by funding 95% of their costs through the “Morocco 200” initiative, she explained.

The upcoming Gitex Africa Morocco international exhibition is scheduled to be held in Marrakech from May 29 to 31, marking its second edition.

The minister emphasized that Gitex Africa Morocco offers a unique opportunity for engaging in multifaceted communication with investors, incubators, and financial institutions.

She stressed that the event is in perfect alignment with the ministry’s strategy to boost digital growth in Morocco and aims to establish itself as a leading hub in the digital field at both regional and continental levels.

The international exhibition aims to showcase the latest advancements and innovations in the digital and technological sectors.

The platform serves as a hub for startups, entrepreneurs, investors, and industry professionals to network, cooperate, and pursue opportunities across a range of sectors. These include cloud storage, Internet of Things (IoT), infrastructure, healthcare, smart cities, cybersecurity, digital finance, and agricultural technology.

Furthermore, Gitex Africa Morocco is dedicated to showcasing Morocco’s position as a key player in digital innovation and entrepreneurship on both regional and continental levels.

Representing Gitex Africa, Chakib Achour highlighted the event’s mission to forge a “forward-looking future” for Africa.

Gitex Africa Morocco is set to facilitate more than 600 anticipated meetings among startups, investors, and companies. Additionally, attendees will have the opportunity to engage with over 1500 exhibitors, comprising public institutions, technology firms, investment funds, and other key stakeholders in the ecosystem.
