The Confedération Africaine de Football (CAF) has announced the dates for the CAF TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations 2025 and the CAF TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations Women 2024, two competitions that will bring together the best football teams and players in Africa.
The hosting of both Africa Cup of Nations in two consecutive years reflects Morocco’s efforts in the advancement and development of the “beautiful game”. Governed under the instructions of King Mohamed VI, the government and the institutions involved in the sport at national level have forged a solid structure for the future.

There are many reasons for the unprecedented success of African football, but there is one that often goes unnoticed but plays a vital role in the development of Moroccan players: the Mohamed VI Football Academy. The creation of schools for future footballers has been the key to Morocco’s success, particularly the Mohamed VI Academy in Rabat. Among the various efforts undertaken by the King, one of the most important was the creation of the academy 12 years ago.
The success of Moroccan football at international level is not the result of luck. These were years of initiatives in which Rabat did its utmost to raise the level of its sports, especially football. This work has also been praised by the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA), which attributes much of its success to “the Moroccan Football Federation’s interest in its senior men’s and women’s national teams”.
Morocco bursting onto the world football scene
Since 2017, when King Mohammed VI formalised the definitive plan for the advancement of sport, not just football, the country has seen a boost in terms of world-class standards and infrastructure. As a result, Morocco has been, and will be, hosting several international football competitions between 2017 and 2030.

In 2022, the country hosted the CAF Africa Cup of Nations 2022, which ran from 13 January to 6 February that year.
