The Ravenala Attitude Hotel Review, Mauritius

Ravenala’s dine around experience offers six distinctive options, from Asian to Italian, and even has a floating restaurant, Riviera (with supplement). Buffet breakfasts at Mozaik (with a vegetarian and vegan corner) are followed by Mauritian street food served from colourful Taba-J trucks beachside, and the beachfront O Restaurant serves Mediterranean cuisine. Dinner favourites include The Bistrot, whose modern, meaty menu features teriyaki pork ribs with pumpkin soufflé, and gourmet burgers; and Kot Nou, a tiny Creole-style house with sun-yellow roof and ravenala-lined walls serving ‘granmama’s recipes’ by candlelight beside the river. Also popular is sushi restaurant, Lime, by the beach (with supplement). Book restaurants on arrival, or you won’t get in. Off the lobby is a ‘bulk shop’ to pick up minibar essentials, including local snacks, banana chips and pink salted peanuts, in reusable containers.

Entertainment includes a live local band at dinner, and six bars, from an elegant piano bar to a beach bar with lounge music and sega shows on the beach at sunset. For those inclined, there’s daily all-night drinking and dancing – unusual for Mauritius – at nightclub, After.
