Nigeria has secured the eighth position in the 2023 World Happiness Report’s ranking of the happiest countries in Africa.

The report, compiled by the United Nations and based on data primarily from the Gallup World Poll, highlights Finland as the world’s happiest country for the sixth consecutive year.

In Africa, Mauritius claims the top spot with a happiness score of 5.902, attributed to its picturesque landscapes and rich cultural diversity. Algeria closely follows in second place, boasting a score of 5.392, reflecting a prevailing sense of well-being in North Africa.

The list features South Africa, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Guinea, Côte d’Ivoire, Gabon, Nigeria, Cameroon, and Mozambique among the continent’s happiest nations.

The rankings, derived from respondent ratings of their own lives, provide insights into the overall happiness levels across different countries, with Mauritius standing out as the epitome of joy in Africa.
