This is a hotel for gourmands, with eight distinctly different restaurants, eight bars, and an annual culinary festival in March. Stylish beachfront restaurant, Indigo, offers European-Asian fusion cuisine, from vegan poke bowls to wagyu steak and wood-fired pizzas in royal blue cabanas. Barefoot beach restaurant Lakaze (‘home’ in Creole) serves seafood and meat from the grill, and traditional rum arrangé from a sunken pool bar. Asian à la carte restaurant, the Blu Sushi Lounge, is open every second evening, and venison curry is among Mauritian dishes offered at the aptly named Deer Hunter, overlooking Legend golf course. Revamped family-favourite, La Citronnelle, with a new deck in front of the sea, offers one of the most extensive, high quality buffets on the island, including global cuisine for breakfast and themed nights with live cooking stations, and sommeliers at a wine bar at dinner.
Drinking is as varied – from striking large rattan lounge pods in the pool (and rum tasting) at the main bar, tiki chic cocktails and baristas making coffee at the Blu Bar by the lagoon with echoes of the French Riviera, to a special wine flight with food pairings (including oysters) by award-winning sommelier Delores Malin, surrounded by 35,000 bottles in the sleek Blue Penny Cellar.
