The Petro Africa Forum and Exhibition for Oil, Gas and Renewable Energy opened its eighth edition on the grounds of the Tripoli International Fair on Monday with over 120 participants, Tripoli International Fair reported.
The activities of the forum and the accompanying exhibition, hosted by Libya for the first time, will continue from 16 to 19 October, with broad local and African participation from leading companies in the fields of energy, petroleum products and mineral industries.
The event was opened by Libya’s Tripoli based Minister of Oil and Gas, Mohamed Aoun, accompanied by the Minister of Economy and Trade, Mohamed Al-Hwej, in the presence of the President of the General Authority for Exhibitions, Issam Al-Aoul and the President of the General Union of Chambers of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture, Mohamed Al-Raied and several heads of diplomatic missions to Libya, company owners, researchers and interested parties.
Event helps Libya increase oil production
In an exclusive interview with Libya Herald, the Director of the Media Office / Spokesman of the Ministry of Oil and Gas, Ahmed Al-Tarhouni, said that this oil forum is considered important for the Libyan oil sector to learn about the latest technologies in the sector. This, in turn, serves Libya’s interest in developing oil facilities, especially production fields using advanced technology that saves effort, time, and money for quick results to achieve the goal of raising Libya’s oil production to 2 million barrels annually.
Helps knowledge and experience transfer
Al-Tarhouni believes that holding such a specialised exhibition and forum with the participation of local and international oil companies and local and foreign oil industry experts, provides the opportunity to transfer knowledge and experiences directly. It also opens the way to getting to know experts and specialists during dialogue sessions and scientific meetings held on the sidelines of the exhibition.
Sends signals of economic stability to international investors
Al-Tarhouni pointed out the interest of the Ministry of Oil and Gas in holding specialized conferences, forums, and exhibitions in oil and gas, as well as renewable energies inside Libya, because it gives a good impression on the stability of economic conditions, raises the level of confidence among international oil companies and positively affects the decision to return to work inside Libya.
It also provides a climate for private sector oil companies to interact with companies owned by the National Oil Corporation directly, as well as to learn more about the oil sector by communicating with local and international oil experts, as well as presenting promising investment opportunities in the sector in Libya and the African continent.
