“Africa cannot be ignored,” U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Linda Thomas-Greenfield said during an Inauguration Day interview with AllAfrica’s Boakai Fofana in Monrovia. The Ambassador led the U.S. Presidential Delegation to the investiture of the country’s new president, while on a three-nation trip that started with a stopover in Guinea Bissau.
“We have never diminished our commitment to the African continent,” she said. When asked whether the Biden-Harris administration is maintaining pledges made at the December 2022 U.S. Africa Leaders Summit, Thomas-Greenfield answered : “We’re committed to this continent, and we want to see Africa continue to prosper.”
In Freetown, Sierra Leone – the last stop on her five-day journey, Thomas-Greenfield met with President Julius Maada Bio; took part in a conversation at Fourah Bay College on Women and Leadership; and visited Tombo Fishing Village to discuss “the community’s challenges with illegal, unreported, and unregulated fishing.”
