TOKYO — Japanese personal care goods maker Unicharm will sell its Sofy menstrual pads in three central African countries, as well as educate consumers about them in a region where disposable sanitary products are not in widespread use.
The company will roll out the pads in Ghana, Ivory Coast and Kenya by November, aiming for 2 billion yen ($13 million) in total sales by 2026. They will be available mainly through supermarkets, though Unicharm is also considering providing local women with free storefronts to sell the pads from.
