Carry1st has announced that registrations are now open for its Africa Cup, which is the largest Call of Duty: Mobile tournament on the continent.
Registrations are open to players from South Africa, Ghana, Nigeria, Egypt, Morocco, and Kenya.
The tournament kicks off on 21st June, with qualifiers held in the respective countries before the finals later this year.
At the beginning of this month we wrote about the Carry1st Africa Cup, which has been earmarked as the biggest Call of Duty: Mobile tournament on the continent.
At the time, registrations for the tournament weren’t open, but that changes today as organisers have created a portal for teams from six African nations to register and compete in qualifiers in a few weeks’ time.
The six nations are South Africa, Ghana, Nigeria, Egypt, Morocco, and Kenya, with each having their own rounds of qualifiers before the finals take place later this year.
This is a team-based tournament, so no solo players are permitted to register. To that end, teams must have a minimum of five players and a maximum of seven. Organisers also confirm that no emulators are allowed for the qualifiers, with both smartphones and tablets permitted for competitors.
“Following qualifying rounds, the surviving teams will gather in-person for a dramatic final showdown. The tournament will also award $1,000 to the Most Valuable Player (MVP) in the grand finals, with MVP prizes available across all regional matches,” noted Carry1st in a release sent to Hypertext.
“Carry1st Africa Cup is a realization of our vision of uniting the continent’s gamers and reflects our broader mission to enhance gaming experiences in Africa. We’re excited to bring together Call of Duty: Mobile teams from major gaming hubs like Egypt, Ghana, Kenya, Morocco, Nigeria and South Africa. We’re proud to play our part in this booming esports ecosystem that will only continue to grow across the continent,” added Carry1st CEO and co-founder Cordel Robbin-Coker.
The dates for the respective qualifiers are as follows:
South Africa – 21st June to 7th July,
Ghana – 28th June to 13th July,
Nigeria – 28th June to 14th July,
Egypt – 5th July to 20th July,
Morocco – 5th July to 21st July,
Kenya – 19th July to 4th August.
