The UN-Habitat delegation, led by Mr. Oumar Sylla, Regional Director for Africa, will meet with several entities, such as high-level Government officials, city leaders, UN Agencies, bilateral and multilateral cooperation partners, among others. The UN-Habitat mission will also be a key moment to identify concrete cooperation activities as part of the Memorandum of Understanding signed with the Government of The Gambia in June 2023.
The objective of the mission is to strengthen the partnership between the Government of the Gambia and UN-Habitat and to create a collaborative framework to accompany the action of the Government towards a better urbanisation process for all, through the launch of the project “Promoting Sustainable and Integrated Urbanisation Processes in the Gambia and Senegal”.
During the mission, a High-Level Roundtable will be organised in the form of an Urban Breakfast Meeting on Wednesday 23rd October at the Bakadaji Hotel. The event will gather high-level government and city officials as well as development partners to discuss and identify common strategies for promoting sustainable urbanisation in The Gambia.”
