GSU president represents Gambia at 8th Eurasia Global Summit

The annual event brought together young leaders from over 64 countries to discuss global issues and seek solutions.

As the sole representative from The Gambia, Mr Sonko made a significant impact at the summit. Not only did he attend as a delegate, but he also had the opportunity to serve as a speaker. His engaging speech focused on the potential opportunities available for young Russians in Africa. Sonko highlighted the importance of collaboration in various sectors such as education, health and medicine, ICT, and research.

During his speech, Sonko proposed the formation of a Russia-Africa youth think-tank. The think-tank aims to foster cooperation between Russia and Africa, specifically in the areas of education, health and medicine, ICT, and other fields of mutual interest. The think-tank will serve as a platform for young minds to exchange ideas, share knowledge, and work towards addressing common challenges.

Sonko’s extensive educational background further solidifies his expertise in international relations and diplomacy. He holds a Primary Teaching Certificate from Gambia College, as well as associate and Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of the People. Additionally, he earned a bachelor’s degree in International Relations and Diplomacy from Tver State University. Currently, Sonko is in the final year of his master’s program, pursuing a degree in International Management at the Higher School of Economics.

Apart from his academic achievements, Sonko is well-known for his volunteer work, which has earned him numerous accolades. He has dedicated his time and efforts to various initiatives, making a positive impact on his community. Additionally, Sonko is a Google Certified UX designer, showcasing his proficiency in user experience design.

The participation of Bakary S. Sonko at the 8th Eurasia Global Summit not only showcased the potential of young Gambians but also highlighted the importance of collaboration between Russia and Africa.
