The event was graced by prominent Gambians, ranging from Ambassadors, Parliamentarians, CSOs and Ministers among others.
Speaking at the event, Mr Hussein Diab Ghanem, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Africell The Gambia, said Africell has prides itself of being a Gambia story.
“Africell started here in The Gambia 24 years ago. Myself, I have been with the organisation for the past 20 years. I started as an engineer and now I’m the CEO of the company. I’m a Gambian,” he affirmed.
He added that Africell managed to grow in Africa to exporting itself into other parts of Africa, adding they feel that The Gambia is their home and promoting it is their responsibility.
“This drone show is a first of its kind in The Gambia. It incorporates the most cutting edge technology. We are a technology related company and so we feel that The Gambia should always be given the best of the best”, CEO Ghanem said, adding that some of the images from the drone are about promoting The Gambia.
“The Gambia is beautiful. The Gambia is the Smiling Coast of Africa. If Gambia can produce success stories and big companies like Africell, I believe the sky is the limit. We as Gambians should continue promoting The Gambia and there is nothing stopping The Gambia from being the best country in West Africa.”
Musa Sise, Chief Government Relations Officer, Africell Gambia Limited, said the day is to manifest that technology is taking over the world as displayed in the event. He added that Gambians should be open to welcome advancing technology.

Sharon L. Cromer, the United States Ambassador to The Gambia who graced the show, congratulated Africell for hosting first ever drone show, while commending them to continue the momentum.
