In tonight’s edition: 25 years of independence in Eritrea; DRC and Uganda border killings; and Loïc Dablé spices up UNESCO’s kitchen.
Eritrea celebrates in style the 25th anniversary of its hard-fought independence from Ethiopia. But behind the festivities simmer ongoing concerns about human rights.
Also, DR Congo says it regrets an incident in which several Ugandan police officers were killed whilst patrolling a lake between the two countries. Kampala has blamed Congolese troops for the shootings.
And there’s a tasty line-up on offer as the UN’s cultural wing, UNESCO, celebrates Africa week here in Paris. Our lucky reporter Ben Barnier heads to the restaurant of a Franco-Ivorian chef who is serving up dishes that mix the best of both.
