The Anioma Media Professionals (AMP) has congratulated the Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) on his reappointment by President Muhammadu Buhari and confirmation by the Senate.
In a statement in Lagos by its National Publicity Secretary, Ken Ugbechie, AMP, made up of journalists and media practitioners from Delta North senatorial district, otherwise known as Anioma, said his re-appointment for a second term was well deserved, considering his giant strides since assuming office, especially in the agricultural sector.
Emefiele was first appointed by former President Goodluck Jonathan in 2014 and was retained after Buhari assumed office in 2015.
It is the first time since 1999, when Nigeria returned to democratic rule, that anyone would be nominated to serve two terms as CBN governor.
AMP recalled that the CBN chief, as a worthy son of Anioma, has been instrumental in the fiscal stability in the economy and contributed to the improving agricultural sector through loan facilities as part of the federal government’s efforts to boost the sector and diversify the economy.
While lauding Buhari for recognising the contributions of the CBN chief, AMP urged Emefiele not to rest on his oars, but redouble his efforts to make the country’s financial sector, and by extension, the economy, stable and strong, including embarking on reforms, where necessary, to further justify the confidence reposed in him by the President and Nigerians.
