Doctors struggle to help in Gaza, US senator criticizes Tunisia vote, sexual violence takes a toll across Africa

As the toll of deaths and injuries has climbed, doctors from around the world have volunteered to try to ease the suffering in Gaza. The head of the U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Subcommittee on Near East, South Asia, Central Asia and Counterterrorism, has criticized the results of Tunisia’s presidential election. On this International Day of the Girl Child, UNICEF estimates more than 370 million girls and women experience rape or sexual assault before age 18, and the highest rate of sexual assaults is in sub-Saharan Africa.
