Kinshasa, DR Congo – July 2024 – The 2024 Forum of the Salesian Youth Movement (SYM) takes place from 25 to 29 July, at the Salesian Institut de la Gombe in Kinshasa. The event is attended by 182 young people from SYM groups in the Africa Congo Congo (ACC) Vice-Province, the Central Africa Province (AFC) and the St Joseph AFC-EST Delegation, accompanied by Salesians and Daughters of Mary Help of Christians. The organisation of this youth meeting, on the theme “Like Don Bosco, Dream big, Dream for life”, aims to make young people dream and make them believe in their dreams; instill in the young participants the values of universal fraternity; and celebrate the faith with the spirituality of Don Bosco. The forum began on Thursday 25 July with the opening Mass presided over by Fr Aurélien Mukangwa, Superior of the ACC Vice-Province, in the presence of Fr Gauthier Tshibangu, Provincial Delegate of the AFC-EST, Fr Jerry Mitchoumbou and Fr Jonas Yav, Delegates for Youth Ministry in the ACC and the AFC respectively, and other Salesian priests. For young people, this forum is a school of learning, with debates and discussions on topics such as sexuality and the promotion of peace, moments of spirituality and prayer, sport and relaxation.
