South Africa is pulling its troops out of the Central African Republic. This follows questions in the South African media about why its troops were sent in the first place. One such investigation published in the Mail and Guardian alleges that the presidency sent soldiers to protect South African business interests. The probe carried out by South African reporters goes to considerable lengths to name the individuals and businesses involved in the CAR. Stefaans Brümmer was one of the journalists at the head of the investigation
