Cape Verdean international Babanco says through their work and dedication they can defeat South Africa at the Estadio Nacional on Friday.
The Blue Sharks and Bafana Bafana will lock horns in back to back 2018 FIFA World Cup qualification Group D encounters.
Cape Verde are heading into the clash with South Africa having lost their first two Group D matches to Senegal and Burkina Faso.
Portugal-based midfielder Babanco believes that they are capable of recording their first win against Bafana.
“The time has come to turn around our situation and start winning the games again‚” Babanco said on SowetanLive.
The 32-year-old, who plays for CD Feirense, was part of the Blue Sharks team that drew 0-0 with Bafana in the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) opening game in Johannesburg.
“South Africa is a very strong team‚ but through our work and dedication we have been demonstrating that we will achieve our goals,” he added.
The return leg match is scheduled to take place at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban, South Africa next week Tuesday.
Cape Verde are placed at the bottom of Group D standings without a single point with two games left. South Africa are placed second with four points.
