Wang Yi Meets with Foreign Minister Pierre Moukoko Mbonjo of Cameroon

On August 18, 2015, Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Foreign Minister Pierre Moukoko Mbonjo of Cameroon, who was in China to chair the 8thmeeting of the China-Cameroon Mixed Committee on Economy and Trade.

Pierre Moukoko Mbonjo first conveyed the sincere sympathy from President Paul Biya of Cameroon to the Chinese people over the grave fire and explosion in Tianjin Port.

Wang Yi said that China and Cameroon enjoy traditional friendship and are highly complementary in economy. China will join hands with Cameroon to turn the advantage of bilateral traditional friendship into the driving force for cooperation and development and help transform Cameroon’s rich resources into economic development strength. It is suggested that both countries prioritize developing the Kribi industrial park to promote cooperation in infrastructure construction and production capacity; enhance cooperation in agriculture and fishery to help Cameroon realize agricultural modernization and food security; discuss cooperation concerning air route operation within Cameroon and the region; strengthen cooperation in such fields as human resources development, peace, security and international affairs.

Pierre Moukoko Mbonjo expressed that Cameroon and China boast solid traditional friendship as well as frequent high-level exchanges. During the visit, he and the Chinese side candidly exchanged views on mutually beneficial cooperation in all areas and yielded important fruits. The Cameroonian government pays high attention to developing relations with China and stands ready to further facilitate the exemplary partnership between the two countries.

Both sides also exchanged views on the preparation for the 6th Ministerial Meeting of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation as well as the international and regional topics of common interest.
