In tonight’s bulletin: several members of the youth wing of Burundi’s ruling party are killed in a grenade attack; children abducted by Boko Haram describe their ordeal; and in Kenya, an engineer builds a water system to counter cartels.

Several members of the youth wing of Burundi’s ruling party are killed in a grenade attack in Bujumbura. The three victims were part of the Imbonerakure group that’s been accused of abuses and attacks in the name of President Pierre Nkurunziza.

Also, some former captives of Nigeria’s Boko Haram insurgent group struggle to reintegrate if they’re lucky enough to get free. Some, having been indoctrinated by their extremist captives, are looked at with suspicion by communities on their return. We hear from some former captives.

And we look at a bid to stem the tide of extortion and exploitation of locals by cartels who control access to water. A new project in Africa’s biggest urban slum uses rooftop plumbing to allow people in Kibera to tap into a vital resource.
