Actress Esta TerBlanche, star of the long-running soap “All My Children” has died at the age of 51, according to TMZ. The cause of the South African actress’ death is unknown.
Her goddaughter, Barbie Ashley told the outlet that TerBlanche died unexpectedly in her North Hollywood home and is believed to have been dead about a day before she was discovered. The South African actress — who was a former Miss Teen South Africa 1991— was 51 years old.
TerBlanche’s manager, Annie Spolianski, confirmed her death with PEOPLE, saying: “We are deeply saddened by this news. Esta was such a kind, loving, giving, and caring person. I’m grateful to have known her for the time that I did, and devastated to learn of her passing.”
A representative for TerBlanche also confirmed her death to USA TODAY, after an announcement was made on Facebook by her publicist, Lisa Rodrigo.
“I can not believe I am posting this,” Rodrigo said on Facebook. “It’s with a heavy heart that my friend and client Esta TerBlanche passed away Thursday of natural causes. An autopsy report is pending. I am still processing and in shock.”
“Esta was a beautiful soul in and out,” she added. “I was proud to know her and work with her. More to come in the days ahead.”
TerBlanche rose to fame on “All My Children” from 1997 to 2001, portraying Gillian Andrassy Lavery, a Hungarian princess opposite the character Ryan Lavery, portrayed by actor Cameron Mathison. The character of the trouble-making princess was killed off in 2001.
Her first acting role was as Bienkie Naudé Hartman on South Africa’s first soap opera, “Egoli: Place of Gold,” from 1992 to 1995.
