IRI’s programming supports participatory democracy and citizen-centered governance in Algeria by empowering Algerian democratic actors to promote a democratic transition in Algeria. IRI helps convene multi-sector roundtables with civil society, government stakeholders, and citizens to build trust and dialogue around issues of importance to communities across Algeria. Through strengthening the capacity of Algerian civil society and supporting the development of an Algerian civil society network, IRI assists in building consensus around Algeria’s post-Hirak future. IRI is working to build the capacity of civil society organizations in various areas such as advocacy, business development, organizational management, and networking in order to elevate civil society’s role as a conduit of change and an effective advocate for citizen needs.
