Dozens of civilians have been killed in fighting between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in Khartoum, as the army carries out its push to dislodge RSF militiamen from their position in the capital. An SAF air raid on a market south of the city claimed the lives of 23 people and injured about 40 others.
Meanwhile, rights groups have condemned the arrest of more than 70 Nubian Christians by military intelligence officers. The group includes priests and children who had fled the fierce fighting. “We urge the Sudan Armed Forces leaders to protect those who are being unjustly detained, and urge them to release them immediately,” Justice Africa Sudan said in a statement.
