During a meeting with the Moroccan Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nasser Bourita, Bapela emphasized the importance of enhancing economic and commercial ties. He encouraged Moroccan companies to invest in South Africa and highlighted the presence of numerous South African businesses in the Moroccan market.
Bapela also praised Morocco’s reintegration into the African Union and recalled the Kingdom’s support for South Africa’s struggle for independence. He emphasized the strong historical ties between the two countries, dating back to Morocco’s assistance to Pretoria during the apartheid era.
The ANC delegation’s visit follows a recent visit to South Africa by a Moroccan parliamentary delegation led by Rachid Talbi El Alami, Speaker of the House of Representatives. During his visit, Talbi El Alami highlighted Morocco’s pioneering role in supporting liberation movements in Africa and emphasized the Kingdom’s ambitious development projects, including the Royal Africa-Atlantic Initiative and investments in renewable energy, the automobile industry, and human resources.
The meetings between the two delegations underscore the growing importance of bilateral relations between Morocco and South Africa. Both countries are keen to strengthen their cooperation in various fields and contribute to the development and integration of the African continent.
